The Solution Series is an ongoing collaboration with the editor and writer Ingo Niermann which presents highly critical cultural proposals in a tumultuous era of geopolitical instability. We developed a graphic strategy for the series which formally recalls early, pocket-sized paperbacks and uses a clear, classic layout to complement the tongue-in-cheek design of the book covers.

By using the word ‘solutions’ the editor offers an ironic alternative to the established critical discourse inviting the authors to develop an abundance of compact and original ideas for countries or regions. The book design references classic paperback series such as 100 Pagine 1000 Lire and employs graphic moves that are simple and clearly recognisable. This strategy enabled us to use the cover design to instill humour, irony and intellectual probing into the collection.
